Homefield is a preparatory school, housed in an extensive purpose-built complex with a 2-acre adjoining playing field. Through BioRegional’s energy audit of Homefield prepartory school in Sutton, £8,000 worth of cost savings were identified by switching suppliers alone. The audit showed how a behavioural change campaign along with other low/no cost measures could result in a 25% reduction in energy use. Recommendations for improvements focussed on lighting, heating and hot water, equipment, ventilation and building fabric. Following the audit, BioRegional with Homefield staff prepared an action plan using the One Planet principles for sustainability improvements for the coming academic year.
